CONNECTIVITY

Telecommunications

High speed, wireless, and DSL are available in most areas. There are also pockets of true broadband, with many municipalities, like Cranbrook, working on getting the service for key areas of the city for business. St. Mary’s Indian Band has true broadband.

Radium Hot Springs is the first community to have access to an open access fibre optic network (2008).  It’s expanding, and Invermere is coming on board.

With the superior connectivity offered by the fibre network, more knowledge-based workers may choose to telecommute.
