BOARD RECRUITMENT

One Voice.  Shared Economic Vision.  Leadership. 
Each year we’re looking for people who think regionally, work collaboratively, and are enthusiastic about our region and creating a regional economy – who truly believe in where we are going and what we do. 

THE BOARD

KRREA is governed by a 12 person Board and 2 ex-officio government representatives.  Board representation reflects the 5 geographic sub-areas of the region and the diversity of economic stakeholders.  Representation is comprised of leaders from business, municipal and regional district governments, regional and First Nations economic development organizations, and regional business organizations and education/training institutions.  Board members serve 2 year terms, elected on a staggered term basis.  A 3 person Executive is elected each year following the Annual General Meeting (held in June).  The Board follows a complementary model of governance.  An orientation program is provided to new Board members. 

The first Board took office April 2007.  Meetings are held quarterly, in person with teleconferencing services available.  Beginning in the coming year (2008/09), meetings will be held in different locations throughout the region. 

BECOME A BOARD MEMBER

Candidates will possess the following experience and qualifications:

• Business and/or economic development knowledge;
• Understanding of the issues and opportunities in the region;
• Strong communications skills;
• Ability to think regionally, placing regional interests ahead of local self-interest;
• Previous business and/or economic development experience;
• Previous Board experience; and
• In the case of private sector members, a diversity of leadership roles.

In addition to the above experience and qualifications, candidates must be a KRREA partner or be a member in good standing of an organization or business that is a KRREA partner.

Interested candidates are invited to submit a Board Member Application Form. The Board’s Nomination Committee reviews all applications and recommends candidates for nomination and election at the Annual General Meeting.
